We want to make your internet radio listening experience as enjoyable as possible. If you don't find the answer to your question below, then please go to our Contact Page and email us. We will try to find a solution for you.
WARNING: Microsoft's Windows Media Player does not currently play PLS format. This is a problem some Internet Radio Stations face.
Fortunately, there are other media players that work just fine with PLS file extensions. Make sure you download one from our Home Page or change your WMP from "default" on your computer.
We are sorry for this slight inconvenience, but the fault lies entirely with Microsoft and their decision NOT to provide a player that will handle this common file extension. There is a workaround that sometimes fixes the problem, however, and the first FAQ deals with that.
I only have Windows Media Player and it won't play your broadcast. Can you help me?

Please return to our Home Page and click on one of the media player links provided. It will take you directly to a download page for that particular player. If WMP is your default player, change your default settings on your computer or just open your new player.Is there a media player you recommend?
We like VideoLAN. This is open source software that is stable and reliable. There are other media players out there, and you don't need VideoLAN to enjoy Theater 13. But this is our personal favorite as it can handle differing codecs other players cannot.Is Theater 13 listed on Shoutcast?
Yes, since this is an internet radio station and we use their plug-in. You can find us by typing "Theater 13" into the Shoutcast search field. Then you can listen from that website:
I have tried to find you on Shoutcast but your station is not listed.
The Shoutcast Yellow Pages are notorious for being fidgety at inopportune times. It's frustrating but the listing will eventually catch up again and you can find us using the search field.Are you listed on Icecast or iTunes?
We run a Shoutcast server so we are not listed on Icecast. We hope to be listed on iTunes in the future, however. We will notify our listeners on our News Bites blog on the Home Page when this happens.Is your radio station listed anywhere else?
Can I listen on my iPhone?
There are several generic internet radio apps available for the iPhone, including a Shoutcast app. Download the app you want and use the search function to find us. Then you can listen on the go!What exactly is Old Time Radio?
Old Time Radio (OTR) is also known as the Golden Age of Radio. It refers to a period in American history that stretched from the 1920s until the late 1950s or early 1960s when television assumed a dominant role. Some of the radio programs we stream for you are over seventy years old.How many channels are you running and at what rate do you broadcast?
We stream at 24 kbps on 100 channels. As we grow we will add more channels for your convenience.
Why do some programs have commercials and others do not? And why do some sound crystal clear than others in the same series?
The OTR fan base works to correct, restore and maintain these shows as best they can for posterity. Sometimes commercials may be missing or were cut out by a previous collector and cannot be found. Also, some shows have special news announcements kept in them for historical purposes: Invasion of Normandy, etc. These shows are a window upon America's past.I like science fiction. (Or some other genre.) Will you run science fiction marathons?
We concentrate on horror, suspense and dark fantasy which covers a very broad area. Having said that, we are looking to run different genre marathons in the future. Even now some of our shows are SF or mystery or noir. We haven't pulled them from the rotation because we feel they are an integral part of the program series in question.Why can't I see the alt text on the pictures?
If you are using Mozilla Firefox you will be unable to read them. Mozilla currently does not support that function. Internet Explorer does.Do I have to buy a subscription to listen to Theater 13?
Absolutely not. Theater 13 is a non-profit enterprise and free for everyone to enjoy. We do, however, accept donations.Do you ever go off the air?
Theater 13 is a 24/7 operation. But sometimes we have local power outages (bad weather, for example) or (rarely) the server goes down. When this happens we will notify you via Facebook and Twitter if we can. Scheduled outages (for maintenance or whatever other reason) will always be posted in the News Bites
Another problem is the Internet itself. Because the way it is structured someone in another part of the world can disrupt the Internet. No matter where you live the Internet is not constant. Even so, we always try to keep you informed and up to date as best we can.
I really like Theater 13. What can I do to help?
Tell your friends! Word of mouth is still the best advertisement out there. Also, you can link us to your friends on Facebook, Twitter, or your blog. And remember to bookmark us so we can build and grow our community.
